Choose the framing carefully here

Every painting we sell offers With Frame or Without Frame, and on most pieces it is a matter of taste. On a black ground it is less so.

The head sits whole in the middle of a starfield, painted in blue and white with gold worked through the ruff and a small gold crescent on the brow, and that dark ground runs out to every edge of the canvas. Framed, it has an edge to stop against. Unframed and unstretched, it reads as unfinished.

What Without Frame actually means

Worth being plain about it. Without Frame is the printed canvas alone, rolled. It is not ready to hang.

You will need to stretch it over a wooden frame yourself or take it to a framer, and framing a 75x100cm canvas usually costs more than the canvas did. That is fine if you want a particular moulding, and a poor surprise if you were expecting to hang it that afternoon.

If you want it on the wall this week, choose With Frame.
