A design with very few lines has nothing to fall back on. Every stroke is load-bearing, the proportions have to be right, and there is no ornament to distract from a weak shape.
That is why pared-back pieces tend to be what designers wear themselves. Detail impresses at first glance; restraint is what still looks right on the hundredth day.
This one is a wolf's head seen from the front, cut from flat polished steel. The ears, the eyes and the muzzle are open slots rather than engraving, so the face is made almost entirely out of the gaps in the metal and the outline stays angular and unfussy.
The practical consequence. A quiet pendant works with a suit, a t-shirt, a work uniform and a night out, and it does not have to be chosen to suit the day.
It also layers well. A small clean piece sits alongside a second chain without competing, where a heavy pendant insists on being the only thing there.
Particularly for someone who does not wear jewellery yet. Under a shirt it is entirely private; visible, it reads as considered rather than as a statement.
Stainless steel, so it survives showering, swimming and daily wear without tarnishing or needing polish. Nothing to maintain beyond an occasional wipe.
