Wolf imagery is almost entirely hunting and howling. The actual daily behaviour of a settled family is closer to what this design shows.

Wolves in an established pair greet constantly: muzzle licking, leaning, nuzzling, a great deal of physical contact that achieves nothing practical and exists purely to keep the bond intact. Observers consistently report it as the most common social behaviour in a pack.

Pairs commonly stay together for life, and a wild pack is simply that pair and the young they have raised. The bond is the organising principle of the whole species rather than a detail added by illustrators.

A warm subject in a cold category

Which makes this one of the few pieces here that genuinely suits a bedroom. Most wolf design is built for a study or a games room; very little of it is tender.

On a sofa it works as part of a group rather than as the statement piece, since the composition is quiet rather than high contrast.
