Printed Wolf Plaid

Drawn entirely in fine black line work, this wolf's face is built from hatching rather than shading, with the eyes and muzzle picked out in short strokes. Across it stand four tall block letters spelling the word WOLF, the first of them a solid panel of black running the full height of the cloth. The whole design works in two tones, ink and white ground.

Line work and letter forms

Two tone has a long history with this animal. Wolf researchers across Europe still count packs in winter by walking snow transects, reading dark tracks against white as the surest record of who passed through a forest and where they were heading. A grey wolf on fresh snow sits at close to this same contrast, all edge and no middle tone.

The graphic style sits well with black frames, pale wood and bare walls, and the full bleed print keeps the letters unbroken when the blanket is spread flat.
