What a canvas print actually is

Worth setting expectations, since realism is the selling point here and the word painting does a lot of work in this category.

The image is two wolves running through deep snow under a blue moonlit sky, one dark and one pale, and it arrives split across a run of separate panels rather than as a single piece.

This is a high resolution print on woven canvas, not brushwork. What you get is accurate colour, sharp detail and the texture of the weave itself, which is what gives a canvas its depth compared with flat paper.

What you do not get is raised paint. Held close, the surface is even. Seen from normal viewing distance, which is how anything on a wall is actually seen, it reads as a painting.

Why realism needs resolution

Detailed work is the least forgiving thing to print. Fur is thousands of fine lines, and a low resolution file turns them to mush at any real size.

That is the difference between a canvas that holds up when you walk past it and one that only works from the far side of the room.
