Three wolves, one familyThree wolves together makes a family portrait rather than a gang. A pack is normally a breeding pair and their young from the last year or two, so most of what looks like rank is really parents and their grown pups....

Drawn entirely in fine black line work, this wolf's face is built from hatching rather than shading, with the eyes and muzzle picked out in short strokes. Across it stand four tall block letters spelling the word WOLF, the first of them a solid...

Light and dark share one sky in this design. A pale grey wolf with a clear blue eye lifts its muzzle on the left, a black wolf mirrors the pose on the right, and the heavens behind them split down the middle: burning orange...

Pixels turned into fur Square white eyes, each holding a single black block, sit either side of a peach muzzle patch with a thick black bar across it for the nose and a dark grey lower jaw beneath. This is a wolf drawn on...

Werewolf stories rarely bother with the whole beast. They fix on the face: the ears going back, the lip lifting, the teeth arriving. This pair keeps to that one moment and lets the white ground hold it. A head drawn in black and silver...

What this is, honestlyA white wolf beside a Native American woman, painted in a romantic style rather than a documentary one.It is worth being clear about that. The image belongs to a long tradition of European and American artists imagining Indigenous life rather than...

Night rather than confrontationThe wolf stands square in the snow, front on and looking straight out, with a moon over the pines on one side of it and a single bright star on the other. It holds your eye steadily rather than threatening you,...

Small enough for a wrist4.3 x 9 cm is genuinely small, and that opens up placements most designs cannot use.An inner wrist, the inside of an ankle, behind an ear, the back of the neck, a collarbone. These are the spots people most often...

Small ones last longerCounterintuitive, and consistently true. A compact design will still look right when a large one on the same person has started to fail. The reason is edges and movement. A transfer fails at its borders, where clothing catches it and skin flexes,...

Choose the framing carefully hereEvery painting we sell offers With Frame or Without Frame, and on most pieces it is a matter of taste. On a black ground it is less so.The head sits whole in the middle of a starfield, painted in blue...

Your wall is part of the pictureThis is the thing nobody mentions about multi-panel work. The gaps between panels are not empty; they show the wall, and the wall colour becomes a stripe running through the image. On a neutral wall that reads as clean...

Snow that will not melt Snow can rest on a wolf's back for hours without melting. The oily guard hairs shed water, and the dense underfur beneath traps body heat so thoroughly that almost none of it reaches the surface. The photograph on this...

Guardian of the mountain shrines Okami is the Japanese word for wolf, and in the mountain shrines of Chichibu and Mitake the wolf was honoured rather than hunted. Farmers asked it to keep deer and boar out of the fields, and took paper charms...

The full moon is the newest part of the legend. In the older accounts the change came from a curse, a pact, a salve or a belt, and it could arrive at any hour of any night. Twentieth century cinema tied the werewolf to...

One face, two halves, split on a vertical axis Down the centre of this black pullover runs a clean vertical line, and either side of it sits half a wolf. Left of the line, a black wolf with a red eye. Right of it,...
