Every other wolf in this collection has a history of persecution behind it. The Arctic wolf largely does not, for the plain reason that almost nobody lives in its range.
It is one of the few large predators on earth whose population was never collapsed by hunting, and one consequence is striking: Arctic wolves show little instinctive fear of people, because nothing in their history taught them to have any.
Most wolf art is too dramatic for a room where people eat. This is not. The palette is pale, the mood settled, and there is no confrontation in the composition.
Pale work also carries light rather than absorbing it, which makes it one of the better choices for a room that is short of daylight.
The catch is that it needs a wall with some tone to it. Against brilliant white paint, a white wolf on snow has nothing to sit against.
